Whether it’s boys against girls, jocks against nerds or Ali versus Frazier, it seems there’s always somebody out there looking for a fight. Differences in Common, the latest show at Gallery One, attempts to bridge the great divide, presenting a cohesive s how by two artists who use different media to achieve a similar aesthetic. David Douglas’ large, “antiqued” photographs incorporate layered multimedia techniques, but ultimately achieve meditative, moody compositions. Tracey Lane’s work is similarly quiet, but her traditional landscape subjects lend her paintings a stately quality as well. Can’t we all just get along? This is your last chance to see this show, so get over to this Belle Meade venue before all hell breaks loose. Again.
