In the modern-day classic No Country for Old Men, we were all confronted with the possibility of a winner-take-all coin toss that could sum up one's whole understanding of personal existence. A process-oriented painter, Jeff Faust discovers his canvases as they evolve. His meticulous brush introduces his viewers to a surreal world where landscape meets mindscape and the distance between the two approaches a zero point. Faust pays a debt to Salvador Dali, but moves past obvious influences to focus on the emotional themes at play in his work.
