BELLE MEADE — Vermont painter Henry Isaacs will be in town for an art show reception
6-8:30 p.m. tomorrow at Gallery One, 5133 Harding Pike.
The event is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society's fight for a breast cancer cure.
Isaacs' wife died from breast cancer. He has devoted much of his art to the theme of trauma and healing.
The art opening coincides with tomorrow morning's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, which is
expected to attract more than 6,000 people.
Isaacs has completed scholarly work on the art of the
Holocaust and images of Hiroshima. He has taught and lectured at international biennials and
symposiums on the art of the Third World, and he has

gathered images to document conflict and social conditions in Central America and the Caribbean nations.
He also has lectured widely on the use of visual imagery in remembering and understanding tragedy
and its application in healthcare fields for those working with the sick or chronically ill.
Isaacs established through the Vermont Community Foundation to support oncology-nursing staffs caring
for those with cancer.
Gallery One is in the Belle Meade Galleria. It is open Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.;
Sundays, 10 am-2 p.m.; and by appointment.
